DAPO ABIODUN Adopt a school initiative
hELP TRAIN A CHILD, HELP CHANGE HIS FUTURE
“DAPO ABIODUN ADOPT-A-SCHOOL INITIATIVE”
On behalf of the Government and the good people of Ogun State, I welcome you to Ogun State, the Gateway State, the cradle of civilization and the land of great Scholars who have made their marks nationally and internationally.
There are 1,566 Public Primary Schools, 475 Secondary Schools, 8 Technical Colleges and 5 Special Needs Schools in Ogun State, all of which were in different state of disrepair when I assumed Office as the Executive Governor of Ogun State.
As a responsive Government, we took the bull by the horn by embarking on the implementation of Nine Hundred and Fifty-Two (952) Projects, at least one in each ward, out of which a total of Ninety (90) Projects had been delivered within my first One Hundred (100) days in Office with special features including: Yellow roof, PVC Ceiling and Terrazzo floor. Others are at different stages of completion across the State.
Realizing the fact that Ogun State Government cannot shoulder the responsibility of education alone, I initiated the idea of Public Private Partnership (PPP) and I am delighted to report that over Eighty (80) projects had been facilitated by Public Spirited Individuals and Organizations under this arrangement in our Schools.
The idea of Adopt-a-School is another initiative of the present administration under my watch to further enhance Public Private Partnership and provide a platform where Public Spirited Individuals and Organizations both home and abroad can intervene in the provision of critical School needs and School Support Services.
I look forward to receive your kind and philanthropic gestures in this regard while I solemnly promise not to shirk in Government responsibility at providing child friendly School environment.
Igbega Ipinle Ogun, Ajose Gbogbo wa ni o!

THE DRIVING FORCE BEHIND ADOPTION OF A SCHOOL.
Even though a large portion of the national budget is allocated to education, a number of schools still experience infrastructural deficit which requires multifaceted interventions.
The quality of education will naturally suffer, if these issues are not addressed. When the quality of education declines, the quality of our graduates and eventually the productivity of our nation would decline.
The present administration under the leadership of His Excellency Prince Dr. Dapo Abiodun MFR has kept faith with Public Private Partnership as a result of the fact that Government alone cannot shoulder the responsibilities of providing qualitative an functional education for its teeming populace. This initiative will therefore strengthen their corporate social responsibilities and a philanthropic gesture which is yielding the desired result.
BRIEF ON ‘ADOPT A SCHOOL PROGRAMME’
School adoption refers to partnership between a school and an external entity such as civil organizations, faith based Organizations, NGOs, individuals, corporate organizations and Nigerians in Diaspora. The focus of the partnership is to identify and solve problems which affect the quality of education delivery which the School and Government may not be able to remedy without external assistance owing to other competing needs in other sectors of the economy.
This initiative provides an opportunity for community based organizations and Nigerians in Diaspora to become actively involved in increasing and sustaining the quality of public education.
